Just a few tid bits of information…
As of yesterday, I am the proud owner of a Milwaukee Library card. Yes, I have lived here for three years and have never stepped foot in a single library. I know, I know, My chances for mother of the year are quickly dwindling! What’s ironic is my friend who got me to go to the library has only lived here for a month. The lady behind the desk asked me if I had ever owned a card in Milwaukee…no…Are you new to Milwaukee…I was three years ago…she acted fairly confused, but I think it was more disappointment. Clearly she was a library snob and looked down on me for not making my entrance to a library sooner. Whatever…I got my plastic card and I’m pretty excited about it!
Next item worth mentioning…
The weather has been a little confused. We’re going on the second week in July and the high temperature today was 69 degrees. I walked outside in shorts to look after my thriving garden and I was taken back the blanket of goosebumps that covered my body. It’s July. I feel as though we’re being slightly cheated in the summer weather department. I enjoy losing the humidity but I’ll be pretty disappointed if our warm weather doesn’t arrive before the cold sets in again.
Lastly, I just came across some news with some disturbing numbers…
Domestic homicide is up in Milwaukee 67% from last year at this time. I’m definitely going to keep my eye on Steve just a little bit more- Perhaps go to bed later than him and wake up before him…just a few of my many tactics to combat this startling percentage!! 🙂
I sympathize with your missing out on summer. We are still wearing sweaters more than I'd like. Now the grains are starting to turn yellowish and I'm trying my best to soak in the green before it is gone. Congratulations on the library card. You are one step ahead of me.
I always saw him as that type. I didn't want to say anything.. mostly just because you two make cute kids together and I want more cute nieces and nephews, and he's the one you have to make them with. But keep a look out..
That's funny. I too have hardly stepped foot into our library and all my church friends are regulars (three times a week story time goers). We are also having crazy cold weather here in ohio. The other day I went to take the garbage to the corner and I'd swear it was October. But, like you, I definitely don't miss the humidity.
hmmm… three years and no library card – well that does deserve at least a little snub!
never fear though – last time i sent in my application "how much do you frequent the library" was not a mother of the year qualifying question.
ps. you have some compition – i was voted mother of taylor street six years standing – CAPUTO!
