As unpopular as it may be, I use spray butter. To be exact, I use I can’t believe it’s not butter spray. There, I said it. Let the mocking begin.

I don’t think I can be at a dinner with my brother-in-law without him making some comment about my choice of chemical butter. But I don’t care.

Steve jokes that it should come in aerosol form because I use so much. Once again, I don’t care.

I started using spray butter 7 years ago when I was losing my freshman 20 lbs. I didn’t feel like the fat of real butter was worth it. So I made the switch, and never thought about it again.

Does it taste like butter? Absolutely not. And I’m okay with that. In fact, this afternoon, I was eating a piece of toast and much to my dismay was out of spray butter. (Which is a very rare occasion) What is a girl to do? So I resorted back to the old stick o’ butter. I spread a layer over my piece of toast and with great anticipation took a large bite.

Boy, was I disappointed. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the taste. In fact, I debated whether I finish the toast at all. Of course, my hunger won because I didn’t want to have to make something else!

I have become accustomed to butter spray and I like it. I like the convenience of the spray. I like that i’s fat free. I like that I don’t have to dirty a knife. I like that it’s easy. I like that it doesn’t have to melt on toast. And I realized today, I like the taste much better than the conventional stuff.

There.
The truth is out.
I am no longer a closet butter spray user.
