Goodbye second grade. Goodbye preschool. Hello summer vacation.
Hallie came home from school on her last day of second grade more distraught than I’ve seen her in a while. Her best friend (who’s been in her class two years in a row) is in a different class next year and to make matters worse – her other good friend is also in the other class. You would’ve thought they were moving across the country for how devastated she was. I did remind her that her friend lives 9 houses down, they ride the bus together and they’re in the same church class. It’s not as though she’ll never see her…but in the eyes of a second grader, her world is officially ending.
Hunter came home singing a different tune. He said goodbye to his best friend who will be going to another school and they legitimately won’t see each other. I asked if it was hard to say goodbye. He looked at me confused…”No, I just said goodbye and he said goodbye and I gave him a piece of my candy.”
Awesome. More evidence that boys and girls are completely different!
