Here’s something you might not know about me…I love Gilmore Girls. I mean really love.
I started watching it a couple years after it started. We were in college, had no cable TV so a friend let me bother the first season of Gilmore girls. I was hooked. I loved the quirky sense of humor and the speed in which every one talked. I found the town of Stars Hollow charming and their town festivals entertaining. And I loved the music, the soundtrack to life.
Once we were out of college, I started watching them on the now defunct network, the WB which then became the CW. I was devastated when they announced abruptly the series end. At that point I owned all but the last season and purchased the last season upon its release. I watched them over and over again.
The funny thing is, I am not a TV/movie person. At all. In fact, I don’t enjoy watching TV. But Gilmore Girls is different. I remember inserting the DVD into my computer and watching on a small screen in the corner of my computer as I worked the night away designing. I loved it because I knew the series so well, I didn’t actually need to watch it, I could listen and be entertained all over again. Its embarrassing to admit how many times I’ve been through the whole series. And I don’t watch out of order. I start with the first episode and watch all the way through. Sometimes it takes me a long time to get through the whole series and sometimes when I am really busy with work I blow through it.
You can imagine my pure delight when they announced a revival of my favorite show. I’m beyond excited. Each time I’ve mentioned my excitement to people, I get the same response, “Really? I’ve never seen the show, is it any good?” I want to shout from the rooftops, “You have no clue what you’re missing.” But instead I smile and realize perhaps the show is an acquired taste. A taste I can’t seem to get enough of. November 25th can’t come soon enough and I’m now trying to figure out if I even have any friends I could gather for a viewing party. If nothing else, Steve has agreed to watch it with me!
BIG GG fan here. Been watching it since it came out. I also watch it over and over….it is my go to comfort show. I am also so excited for the revival! I often joke with friends that we can’t be friends unless you watch and LOVE GG;) My sister hadn’t even watched it till this last year…..and I made her….and she loved it:)
I’m glad I’m not the only one! They just released the new seasonal poster and I got excited all over again!
So excited for the revival! My husband and I have been rewatching the series in anticipation. I was a fan from the beginning and during one of my rewatching of the series (I think the only tv show I have all seasons of on DVD), he got hooked, too.
My husband watches occasionally, but he finds the fast/witty talk tiring!
The internet is a weird place – we’ve never met, yet I feel like we’re kindred spirits. Moms, self-taught DIY’ers (how I found your blog!), we share a Missoula connection (I grew up on Flathead Lake) and now Gilmore Girls!!! Ohhhhhhh I love that show and feel the same way about shouting it from the rooftops!!! I don’t know many people who share my passion for it, so I’m excited to hear that someone else is crazy about it too! November can’t get here fast enough! My family will want to go skiing (we live in Utah now), but I think I’ll fake an injury or a sickness so I can stay home and cozy up on the couch in front of Netflix!
Flathead lake – lucky! I wish we lived closer so we could enjoy and squeal with joy together!! Skiing or GG? Not even a question…fake an injury. 🙂
I love Gilmore Girls. Can’t wait for new episodes. My husband and I are currently watching Parenthood. Definitely not as good as GG. ?
I watched some parenthood as well but it’s a much heavier show. I like the light-hearted nature of GG.
