I still haven’t gone through Halloween photos so that post will have to wait. Instead – a little home renovation update.

After some delays – we have windows – but still no exterior doors, they are currently running 4 weeks behind their estimated delivery date.  What I don’t understand is how the manufacturer gives you a date of delivery when you order and then misses the mark by a month. I’m realizing that is quite normal in the construction industry and frustrating for everyone involved.

We had a door and sidelights on this wall and now we have windows – that aren’t painted shut and actually open. Oh happy day. (I seem to have a before shot but no after.)

Interior doors have been delivered and are ready to be installed. Moulding and trim is on site. Tile is on site. Paint is on site. Pendant lights are on site – unfortunately, not the pendant lights we ordered and they will have to be shipped back and exchanged. And what I’m most excited about…

Back in August we ordered cabinets and November 2nd was the day they were going to be installed. (not that it takes that long to build them, they just have a long list of people ahead of us and at the time it seemed so far away!) But guess what tomorrow is…November 2nd which means install day!! We have lived in chaos for a while now and I’m beyond happy that they are being installed. In my little head, I was envisioning a beautifully orchestrated organizing session this weekend getting everything back in its place in the kitchen – until I was told they want the cabinets empty when they install the countertops – which will be 2-3 weeks down the road. But even that didn’t put a damper on my excitement for tomorrow because 2-3 weeks is a light at the end of the tunnel. A long, dirty and chaotic tunnel.

Even then – we’re not at the end of tunnel – we’ll just be done washing dishes in the bathtub. Then the finish work begins. In a year we’ll be back to normal! 😉
