Hallie participated in a tennis tournament before everything shut down. This was a tournament that she was a little nervous about because the level of play was more than what she was used to. And I was a little nervous for her because she can get in her own head and self destruct.
But she came out strong and she competed. She’s been with a new coach for the last 5 months and her progress was on display – and it was fun to watch. She ended up in the semi-finals out of 17 girls and we couldn’t have been more proud of her.
The next afternoon we were walking around the neighborhood and she was anxious to talk about the tournament from the previous day. With a twinkle in her eye she said, “You know what? Tennis is way more fun when you’re good!”
That is a true statement. Tennis is sport you can work at for years before you feel like you can play confidently and she finally arrived. She has worked at it for a while and I love that she feels she can play competitively. Yes, there will always be better players, but she knows how to play and can do it consistently. Money well spent! 🙂
