My parents are visiting right now. And although their primary reason for visiting was to be here for Briggs’ baptism, they got more than they bargained for with all our kids’ soccer games and tennis matches.

The added bonus: I didn’t plan to work on projects while they were here but when a pile of steel showed up on my driveway the same week my dad was arriving I knew it was meant to be! 🙂

I know those four pillars don’t look like much but they are heavy and the work they took us to get them in and level was lengthy. But they are level and beautiful and tomorrow morning we have a crane showing up at our house to put the beams on. (Heavier than the pillars we already installed)

The kids are far more excited at the prospect of a crane at our house than the shade this ramada will one day provide. I’m excited at seeing this thing come together and then equally overwhelmed knowing as soon as the beams are on I’ve got a lot more work on my plate to add the tongue and groove ceiling and then sourcing and building the roof. But then I remember we will have shade next to our pool and I know it will all be worth it.
