Christmas felt different this year – and not in the way I anticipated. I figured our first Christmas with Hallie away would be hard but it wasn’t hard – it was just weird. Spending a week in the hospital before Christmas took it’s toll not only on Cannon but Steve and me. I felt as though we were crawling to finish line of Christmas and by Christmas morning we were tired and emotionally spent.

I am a gift giver and I have always loved giving gifts. But that morning I was just going through the motions – a little numb and my head was still a little foggy. Luckily, I’m in a much better place now and I have enjoyed looking back at these pictures and seeing all the fun reactions. Having kids grow up has been so much fun but the older they get, the more boring their Christmas lists become. This year there were a lot of shoe and clothing requests even from our youngest.

I know Briggs is heavily influenced by his older brothers when his #1 Christmas request was a pair of crocs. The next two things on his list: A hooded towel for the lake (to match his brothers) and a new comfy since he ruined his recently. Where are all the toys!?

And we love sports in this house and it was clear Christmas morning. Pretty sure there were two Suns Booker Jerseys, Argentina Messi, Liverpool FC, Real Madrid Bellingham and a USA Pulisic.

Hallie was able to video call for a short period on Christmas morning and it was so fun to hear her laughter in our home again. She was equally disappointed in how many clothes and shoes she saw the boys open!

For the first time ever – we attended a movie on Christmas day! We were late to the party and were finally getting around to seeing Wicked. We had the kids watch the Wizard of Oz a couple weeks ago (which they strongly disliked) but they were excited to see Wicked after hearing all the hype. The consensus was that it was good…but too long. Briggs struggled to stay interested but certain parts kept his attention. Steve and I both took little catnaps (did I mention we were still trying to catch up on sleep). I love the music. I’ve seen the play multiple times and they did a fantastic casting job. Those women knocked it out of the park. The boys don’t typically do musicals but they enjoyed it and it was a relaxing way to spend the day.
