Steve has attended the Fiesta Bowl for the last couple years as part of a work assignment – rough assignment, huh?! And this year we were holding out just the tiniest amount of hope that our ASU Sun Devils would be competing in the Fiesta Bowl as part of the College Football Playoffs – but our luck is not that great – so the devils played in Georgia.
We love watching college football and really watching any team in the playoffs is fun. But if I’m not wearing maroon and gold – my next favorite team to cheer on is Boise State from my home in Idaho. And I couldn’t believe my luck when Boise landed in the Fiesta Bowl. My luck improved when Steve had extra tickets! So we spent New Years Eve in Glendale watching Boise face-off against Penn State.
And shirts that had sat in the bottom of my drawer for too long were finally put to good use.
I wish I could say we were happy with the outcome – but that would be a lie. Win or lose, it was fun being in a stadium packed with so many Boise fans. They were loud. They were energetic. And it’s been fun to follow their season this year. And I’ll cheer for them again next year.
And when the game was over we rushed off to close out the remaining time of the 2024 with friends!
