Our little turkey isn’t so little! photo 20131203-DSC_7925-Edit.jpg He slept through most of the Thanksgiving festivities and for that we were all happy – both Steve and I were able to enjoy a dinner, sitting down at a table which hasn’t happened in a while!

5 weeks…

We had so much rain this last week – for four days, it just poured. And although it was kind of fun to snuggle up with this little guy under gray afternoon skies, it put a damper on our evening walks!

photo 20131126-DSC_7406-Edit-Edit-1.jpg Cannon had is one month check up and he’s healthy as a horse. Since leaving the hospital just a few weeks ago he’s gained three pounds (10lbs 12oz). That’s a lot – especially since he spits up half of every meal. The doctor isn’t concerned with his spit up because he’s not fussy and his weight gain is more than desirable. What can I say, I produce cream!

He’s alert these days, and you can tell his eyes are starting to track the movement around him.

He went to church for the first time and everyone marveled at his hair – which is turning a lighter shade of brown.

Still trying to figure out how to protect him from his loving older brother!

4 weeks…

Life with Fingerprints: 4 Weeks We’re starting to get back into the swing of things. Life has resumed a somewhat normal pace and I’ve managed to keep all four kids alive. Success.

Cannon is still a great baby. He’s had some serious issues with projectile spit up which still catches me off guard. Hallie and Hunter were the same way (although Hallie had a medical condition explaining hers). When we took Hunter to the doctor they ran some tests and there was nothing wrong. The doctor suggested I pump and give him a bottle and see if there was any improvement – it nearly solved our problem. The doctor supposed I had too much milk coming too fast, the bottle would give a regulated amount of milk. Fast forward 5 years – we were having the same problem with Cannon. I’ve spent the last week pumping (except for night feedings because I’m lazy) and giving a bottle and it has made a world of difference. Sure, he still has spit up once and a while, but it’s not drenching me every single feeding. It’s inconvenient but so is going through 6 burp rags and three outfits a day!

We’re slowly moving his bed time earlier in the evening (right now its around 9 or 10) and he’s sleeping well during the night for the most part (we’ve had a couple rough nights, but the majority are good).

He loves being in the stroller for our evening walks.

He takes the pacifier well but if he falls asleep with it in his mouth and it falls out, he wakes up. No good.

He sleeps best when he’s “woombied”.

He survived another week of Bennett’s undying love – probably our largest accomplishment!

3 weeks…

photo 20131112-DSC_6507-Edit.jpg I had spit up down the inside of shirt and in my hair multiple times this week – the honeymoon is over!

We’re seeing Cannon’s eyes more and more these days and too often it’s at night, sometimes late into the night. He’s continual smothered by kisses from his brothers, although we’re trying to keep Bennett at an arm’s length because his kisses aren’t very soft. Cannon went to the park for the first time this week and has enjoyed our nightly walks. He’s spent a lot of time snuggled in the arms of his grandma who sadly deserted us today.

We’re hoping week 4 produces less projectile spit up than week 3. Baby steps.

2 weeks…

photo 20131105-DSC_6315-Edit.jpg The first week with Cannon was a dream. The second week wasn’t quite a dream, but it was still good. He’s awake more and more which comes with a little more fussiness as well. Especially at night. But he makes up for it when he sleeps for 4-5 hour stretches through the night. I’ll take the evening fussiness if I can get some decent sleep.

We blessed him this last week (more on that later) and he experienced his first Halloween – next year we’re hoping he’s better at trick-or-treating!

Still loving his sweet snuggles!
