This guy rolled over this week. I put him on his back on the floor next to kitchen as I finished up dinner. Hallie and Hunter were upstairs and Mr. B was in the kitchen with me. Cannon was not happy that he was left alone with no one to talk to and started to cry. I tried my best to rush through the final preparations for dinner so I could scoop him up. After just a few minutes I started to hear a muffled cry. I looked to the living room and saw him on his stomach tucking his head down as he cried. I was so excited, I ran to him and got down on his level and started cheering for him. He instantly stopped crying and gave me the biggest gummy smile around. Rolling over – that’s a game changer!

Yes – he’s that awesome.
He coos and giggles and gives me smiles all the time. His siblings love him to pieces. I picked him up out of the crib the other day and it hit me just how big he was. He no longer looks little in the crib. He’s starting to fill the space. Not to mention every time I pick him up I’m again reminded – he’s gaining weight nicely.
He’s starting to slow in the eating department and seems to be going longer in between feedings. He’s holding his head up like a champ and doesn’t mind the tummy time. He grabs his hair often and we find him scratching his scalp and forehead with his little hands. Unfortunately he’s got his mother’s (and brother) skin issues and and we’re doing our best to control it. His scalp is really quite awful looking – eczema can be quite painful. They kept telling us Mr. B would grow out of it, almost three years in, it’s still as prevalent as his infant days. Cannon is on the same road. I know those are my bad genes passed on to them, poor guys.
Aside from his irritated skin, life is sweet – it’s good to be 14 weeks!

Just when we thought his hair couldn’t get more volume:
He’s three months old today and he’s definitely grown out of the newborn stage. I just pulled out the 3-6 months clothes and even some of those are already a little snug on him. He’s got one long torso.
He loves the swing – loves the woombie – and has mastered the pacifier. He gives me 8-9 hour stretches at night and I love him for that. Unless he’s overly tired, he’s content and happy. We avoid giving him tummy time on the floor because Bennett can’t seem to enter the room without falling on top of him or stepping on his leg or arm. He’s still sleeping in a port-a-crib in the laundry room; we still haven’t kicked Bennett out of the crib. One day – maybe 9 months from now, but we’ll move him eventually.

He’s turning into Mr. Smiles and tosses them around willingly. He’s pretty happy most of the time and we love that about him. Mr. B has become more dangerous to him as of lately and we’re trying to figure out how to keep them out of the same room for at least the next…oh, I don’t know…2 years!? Bennett tried picking him up by his head, almost stepped on him, accidentally sat on him and intentionally hit him in the stomach and that’s under supervision. Its a wonder how any 4th child makes it to their first birthday.
Hunter grows more fond of him every day and I often catch glimpses of what life will be like when they’re older. If Hunter sees he doesn’t have a blanket over him, he’ll find one to cover him. If he’s crying, Hunter will try to put the pacifier in and sings softly to him. If Bennett is around, Hunter acts as a barricade. And Hunter requests kisses for Cannon every single night. He really adores him and it’s so fun to watch.
I love that Cannon is becoming more interactive. He’s starting to recognize me and my voice and often stares at me intently. It’s my favorite look. He can be in his carseat with a lot of people around him with a lot going on and when I enter the picture he gives me the stare. I love the little rewards. It almost makes up for all the wardrobe changes due to his spit up! Almost.

He’s 13 1/2 pounds and 24 inches long – and he spent a lot of time in the arms of his father this week soaking up the bowl games!
He’s got night sleeping down and he’s mastering cute looks and cooing. He also loves the swing – the first of our children to truly embrace the swing. Life is good.
